Impact Investing: Workshop presented by Biniyog Briddhi in Chattogram

Biniyog Briddhi supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, in association with Roots of Impact and LightCastle Partners, conducted a workshop titled, “A new type of capital: what impact investing can do for you?”, supported by Bangladesh Angels and Startup Chattogram at Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View on Monday, March 28, 2022.

The workshop facilitated as well as presented the idea of impact investments which is relatively new to the startups of Bangladesh.

Bijon Islam, CEO at LightCastle Partners, and Ameena Chowdhury, Programme Manager at the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh welcomed the participants and shared the potential of the local ecosystem in their speech.

Reyasat Chowdhury, Founder & CEO at Shuttle presented his startup’s journey to inspire new and upcoming entrepreneurs to show the impact that can be made through a simple idea brought into life.

The workshop facilitated as well as presented the idea of impact investments which is relatively new to the startups of Bangladesh.

Maxime Cheng, Lead Market & Capacity Building Programs at Roots of Impact shared the concept of impact investment and the prospect it can bring to the ecosystem. Participants ranged from seasoned entrepreneurs to student startups who are just starting out their business ideas and beginning to start the learning process. A short panel discussion was also moderated by Maxime where the following panelists joined to share their experiences and learnings:

The event also enabled networking opportunities among the startups and the investors to elaborately talk about their business and the impact angle of it. Overall 50+ budding entrepreneurs and 10+ investors from the local Chattogram Startup and Investments Ecosystem were present.

The vibrant workshop set the tone as the stakeholders came together and interacted to share ideas, thoughts, and impacts that can be made.
