LightCastle to analyze the impact of BRAC’s IDP Projects

LightCastle Partners has been onboarded by the international development organization BRAC to carry out an Impact Study and Cost-Benefit Analysis of the Integrated Development Programme (IDP) in Haor (wetland ecosystems in the northeastern part of Bangladesh), Char (floodplain sediments islands), and Indigenous Areas of Bangladesh.

BRAC’s IDP aims to deliver development interventions using a more holistic, integrated approach in hard-to-reach areas, mainly in Haor, Char, and Indigenous areas. The program was implemented in 2013 in 4 Upazilas under 4 districts with the objective of deploying a ‘one-stop service’ to improve the socio-economic conditions of the impoverished in the hard-to-reach areas.

LightCastle will be conducting an impact assessment to quantify the results of BRAC’s IDP services in target areas over the last 7 years. LightCastle’s mixed-methods approach, largely aided by the firm’s in-house technology capabilities, will also be implemented to conduct robust cost-benefit analyses of BRAC’s IDP and non-IDP interventions in similar areas, and consequently compute the effectiveness of IDP.

The study is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. The findings of the study will be used to formulate recommendations and strategies for further program development in the hard-to-reach areas of Bangladesh.
