Understanding Venture Investments for the Bangladesh Market

BD Venture and LC Impact, the impact investment arm of LightCastle partners Limited, jointly arranged the 3rd season of the Venture Investments Training Program on “Understanding Venture Investments for the Bangladesh Market”. 

The 3-day intensive program was designed and conducted to provide a holistic view on Alternative Investments, particularly on Venture Capital Investments and prospects of the VC market in Bangladesh. The event began with an overview of investments and industry analysis for startups and growth stage firms. 

The session’s topics included an overview of the Venture Capital Market and context of Indian market, Introduction and discussion on Impact Investments for Bangladesh, Overview of Bangladesh Venture Capital Market and case studies, Assessment of investment opportunities & due diligence, Experience sharing on Investments & Valuation, Experience Sharing on Venture Investments & PE in Bangladesh, Valuation for Young Companies & Start-Ups, Valuation Practices, Venture Capital Term-sheet and Formalizing Agreement, and case study on term sheet agreement.

The program was led by Mr. Rahul Joshi an International Venture Investment expert. Additionally, there were seven local industry experts and seasoned investors including Mr. Asif Khan, CFA, Managing Partner, EDGE Research and Consulting Limited; Mr. Shawkat Hossain, Managing Director, BD Venture; Mr. Syed Javed Noor, General Manager and Head of Consumer, IDLC Finance; Mr. M Fayaz Taher, Director, Fortuna Bangladesh (Prominent Angel Investor); Ms. Anita Ghazi Rahman, Founder & Partner, The Legal Circle, Ms. Nauriin Ahmed, Associate, The Legal Circle; and Mr. Bijon Islam, CEO, LightCastle Partners.

The event was held in Nascent Gardenia Hotel, Baridhara Diplomatic Zone from 3rd till 5th March 2019.
