LightCastle Organized a Webinar on the Future of Shrimp Sector in Bangladesh

LightCastle Partners organized a webinar on the Future of the Shrimp Sector in Bangladesh on the 22nd of August 2022. The webinar first featured a keynote presentation by Sanjir Ali, Project Manager and Senior Business Consultant of LightCastle Partners, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Zahedul Amin, Director of LightCastle Partners. The esteemed group of panelists included: Mr. Alok Kumar Saha, Deputy Director from the Department of Fisheries, Mr. M.A. Hasan Panna, Managing Director of Fahim Seafood Processing & Farming Ltd, and Mr. Shyamal Das, Managing Director of M.U. Sea Foods Ltd, Mr. S. Humayun Kabir, Vice-President of Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association, and Mr. Willem van der Pijil, Managing Director of The Global Shrimp Forum.

The session primarily focused on establishing Black Tiger shrimp in the international retail market through improved backward linkage, successfully introducing (if) Whiteleg shrimp in the Bangladeshi Shrimp value chain, and lastly, identifying key government and ancillary support necessary for the sustenance of shrimp farming among the small and medium scale farmers.

The discussion points will be formally documented and disseminated among policymakers, industry players, and development partners to help design holistic interventions for strengthening the shrimp value chain.
